What is preferential voting in Australia?
- Voting by postal ballot only
- Ranking candidates in order of preference so that votes are redistributed until one candidate has a majority

Why this is the correct answer
Preferential voting asks voters to number candidates from most to least preferred, so if no one wins a majority on the first count, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated and their votes are redistributed. This continues until one candidate has more than half the votes.
